Want more than resilience?
Why resiliency is not enough
There's a lot of talk about resilience these days.
And I want to introduce you to resilience's upgraded version.
I recently met someone staying in my building, a marketing guy who’d been eavesdropping on a conversation I had with a neighbor.
We ran into each other in the elevator, and he asked if I was in marketing. I told him I wasn’t, but that I have a Masters in Marketing and work with a lot of agencies.
We started talking about how marketing has changed over the last 10 years—how the tools and techniques evolve almost daily. It’s clear: the pace of change and innovation is relentless.
In today’s world, it's not enough to just adapt or manage change. To survive and thrive, we have to lead it.
That’s where persistence and tenacity come in.
Persistence is about getting back up and trying again to achieve your goal. Tenacity is about getting back up and trying a different approach to get there.
Resilience is just the beginning—it’s about the ability to get back up.
But to truly succeed, we need all three:
Resilience – Getting back up.
Persistence – Keeping going.
Tenacity – Strategizing to get there.
We need to have and leverage momentum around all three to lead change.
If you enjoyed this snippett and want a keynote, workshop, or coaching on how to harness persistence and tenacity in the way that you lead, perform, and do business, then please email me at hello@winitha.com. I'd love to help.
